near Saugatuck, Michigan, Bethabara is a place set aside for the purpose of retreat; a time just to step back a bit, think and pray, rest and get a fresh perspective. Places of retreat have offered hospitality to spiritual pilgrims for centuries. Bethabara continues the ancient tradition of hospitality, in the setting of a comfortable and welcoming retreat cottage and country home. Bethabara (pronounced Beth-ah-bah-rah, John 1:28 KJV) is an ecumenical ministry, anchored in the Judeo-Christian tradition and offered by Christians, for the purpose of cultivating and welcoming communion with God. Guests who share this purpose are welcome, whether they claim a faith tradition or not. Spiritual pilgrims as well as scholars and artists of all kinds have often found Bethabara a place that elicits creativity and fresh perspective.
